With the recent conclusion of the All Stars season of Big Brother Naija, it’s an opportune moment to reminisce about other captivating reality shows that have graced our screens over the years. Here are four Nigerian reality TV shows, listed in no particular order:

1. “Gulder Ultimate Search”

The Nigerian reality TV series, sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc, provided selected contestants with a unique challenge to seek hidden treasures while immersing the audience in the nation’s cultural heritage. First aired in 2004, it ran for a total of 12 seasons. After a seven-year hiatus in 2014, season 12, titled “The Age of Craftsmanship,” was broadcast in 2021. Contestants, typically numbering from 10 to 30, were sent to the wilderness, where they had to survive with limited resources and scavenge for necessities.

2. “Project Fame West Africa”

Also known as MTN Project Fame West Africa, this music talent reality show was based in Lagos, Nigeria. It featured selected contestants who received coaching from renowned African music industry professionals. The show debuted in 2008 and has had nine seasons, with five episodes per season, showcasing contestants from various African countries. “Project Fame” has launched the careers of notable artists and actors in the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Iyanya, Chidinma Ekile, Ayoola Ayolola, Johnny Drille, Niniola, and Praiz.

3. “Amstel Malta Box Office” (AMBO)

Sponsored by Nigerian Breweries, AMBO aimed to discover the next superstar for the Nigerian film industry. It began in 2005 and ran for four years, concluding with its final season in 2009. The show played a pivotal role in producing acclaimed Nollywood actors like OC Ukeje, Alex Okoroji, Bayray McNwizu, and Annabella Zwyndila.

4. “Maltina Dance Hall”
