Europa: Boniface wary of Molde threat

Victor Boniface has issued a warning to his Bayer Leverkusen teammates, stressing the importance of them performing at their highest level in their upcoming match against Norwegian club Molde. Bayer Leverkusen is scheduled to face Molde in their second Europa League match of the season, with the game set to take place in Molde.

Boniface possesses valuable knowledge about Erling Moe’s team, as he faced them multiple times during his tenure in Norway with Bodo/Glimt. The 22-year-old anticipates a challenging encounter against the resilient Molde side.

In his statement to the club’s official website, Boniface acknowledged Molde’s status as a top team in the Norwegian league, consistently competing for the league title year after year. He pointed out that Molde was the reigning champions when he joined Bodø/Glimt in 2019, and during the following two years when his team clinched the league title, Molde remained their primary competitors as runners-up.

Boniface emphasized that underestimating Molde is not an option, particularly considering the match will be played on their home turf. He also highlighted the potential advantage that Molde may have due to the artificial pitch, which could create unusual playing conditions for Bayer Leverkusen.

Notably, Boniface had an impressive performance in the UEFA Europa League last season, where he was the joint-top scorer with six goals. This season, the Nigerian striker has already contributed with one goal and one assist in the competition.
