“Netflix’s weekly top 10 chart reveals that ‘The Black Book’ has emerged as one of the most-watched movies globally over the past week, marking a historic milestone for Nollywood. In a global ranking of the most-viewed English-language films on Netflix, this crime thriller secured the third position, garnering a total of 11.2 million views and 21.3 million hours of viewing time between September 25, 2023, and October 1, 2023.

Viewership for ‘The Black Book’ spans across 69 countries, including South Korea, the United States of America, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Kenya, Martinique, Panama, Poland, Romania, Venezuela, and Nigeria.

Acknowledging this groundbreaking achievement on Twitter, the film’s director, Editi Effiong, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to its success. This milestone sets a new record as the largest African title to achieve global recognition on Netflix, marking a significant breakthrough for both the film industry and director Effiong, who is making his debut as a director.

‘The Black Book’ stars Richard Mofe-Damijo, portraying a father whose son is falsely accused and killed for a kidnapping crime. The father, now a deacon with a dark past, takes matters into his own hands and confronts a corrupt police gang and a clandestine organization to clear his son’s name.
