Nigerian defender Ola Aina has been named Nottingham Forest’s Player of The Month for September, as confirmed by the club on Tuesday.

According to the club’s announcement, Aina secured 40 percent of the total votes cast by the fans.

He takes over the award from his compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi, who earned the honor in August.

During the reviewed month, Aina made three appearances for Nottingham Forest. They recorded a notable 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, followed by a 1-1 draw at the City Ground against Burnley and a 2-0 loss to Manchester City.

The 26-year-old defender has left a positive mark since joining Forest on a free transfer following his departure from Torino. He has featured five times in the current Premier League campaign.

Known for his versatility, Aina can play on either flank and has operated on both the left and right sides of the defense this season, consistently delivering solid performances.

In a recent interview with the club’s website, Aina expressed his enjoyment of life at the City Ground, stating, “It’s been fun. I’ve enjoyed every bit of it so far. The staff, the players, the city itself, it’s been really good to me so far, and long may it continue.”

Aina was not included in the lineup for their recent game against Brentford on Sunday but will be hoping to make a return for their upcoming match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest currently occupies the 12th position on the Premier League table with seven points, having earned eight points from seven games played.
