Samson Erinfolami Balogun, who is also known as Sam Larry, emphasized in a video that he had not caused any harm to the late singer Mohbad and expressed his deep affection for him.
Larry stated, “I did not kill Mohbad; I love him very much, and God knows my heart. I have no knowledge of anything related to Mohbad’s death.”
He maintained that he had no involvement in Mohbad’s demise and that he held a strong affection for the entertainer, considering him like a brother, and his wife, Omowunmi, like a sister. According to him, he consistently connected Mohbad with shows and gigs, even covering the expenses.
Larry said, “Everyone knew that I cared for him. I always took him with me and connected him with shows, and I paid for them as well. If we had disagreements, it would never have led to someone’s death.”
Larry also addressed the circulating videos that had drawn public attention on social media.
In these videos, Larry was shown having various interactions with Mohbad, but he defended himself, clarifying that the videos were old.
He also mentioned that the context of the videos had been misrepresented, as he had never physically harmed Mohbad. He cited Zlatan, who appeared in one of the videos, as a witness to support his claim.
Furthermore, Larry stated, “Those videos circulating online are old, including the one where he and Zlatan were sitting in a wheelchair. Zlatan can vouch for me; you can ask Zlatan if I ever laid a hand on Mohbad, but I did not. In the video from the club, I was engaged in a conversation with his friend. If you watch the video closely, you’ll see a few bouncers trying to calm Mohbad down because I had already started resolving the dispute.”
Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023. After his death, various reports surfaced about the challenges he faced following his departure from Naira Marley’s record label.
A police report filed by the singer before his passing was also made public in the days following his demise. In the report, he sought protection for his life and property against Sam Larry and his associates.
In response to the series of events, the Nigerian Police Force pledged to investigate the matter.
