After a period of relative silence following the passing of his friend and fellow entertainer, Mohbad, on September 12, 2023, Shmurda has taken to his Twitter account to demand justice for Mohbad. He expressed that he feels Mohbad’s spirit has been urging him to seek justice and arrest those who made his life difficult when he was alive.
In a tweet, Shmurda conveyed, “I’ve been trying my best not to use my phone or say anything in the past few days, but Mohbad’s spirit won’t let me rest. I know I’m the only one who can bring peace to his spirit by ensuring that those who made his life miserable, leaving him with almost nothing to live on, never find peace. He has started, and I won’t let it slide. Samlarry and the entire Marlians Music must face the consequences.”
In a subsequent tweet, he committed to pursuing justice for his late friend who had reportedly filed petitions with the Nigerian police while he was alive, expressing fear for his life. He called on the police to take action and not be indifferent to the matter. Shmurda mentioned that he has been haunted by Mohbad’s spirit, which has been calling for justice. He also canceled his Canadian tour due to the tragic events.
He said, “Over the past few days, I’ve been contemplating what to do, while awaiting the intervention of the Nigerian police or at least some individuals involved in the mistreatment and malicious acts towards Mohbad. Since his passing, his spirit has remained with me, revealing many things in my dreams, pointing fingers at those who need to be held accountable. Mohbad had submitted numerous petitions against these individuals, but the Nigerian police seemed apathetic due to nepotism until he was no longer with us.”
Shmurda went on to suggest that if Naira Marley and others from his circle leave the country, it could indicate guilt regarding the allegations against them. He proposed that they be banned from returning to Nigeria.
These tweets followed a series of events following Mohbad’s death, including the release of videos that allegedly depicted the mistreatment he endured within Marley’s record label. After Mohbad’s passing, a petition he had written to the police seeking protection from Marley was made public, further implicating Marley, Sammy Larry, and their record label.
