The military high command has reported that during operations in the Niger Delta region, they successfully prevented the theft of crude oil valued at N388,469,650.00 and apprehended 22 suspected oil thieves.
Maj. Gen. Buba Edward, the Director of Defence Media Operations, made this announcement in Abuja while briefing journalists on the military’s recent activities. He also mentioned that troops discovered and dismantled 38 dugout pits, 21 boats, 57 storage tanks, three tapping hoses, four drum receivers, 89 cooking ovens, six pumping machines, three outboard engines, and 34 illegal refining sites. In addition, they recovered 696,250 litres of stolen crude oil, 54,400 litres of illegally refined AGO (Automotive Gas Oil), and 1,200 litres of PMS (Premium Motor Spirit).
Regarding the counter-insurgency efforts, Maj. Gen. Edward reported that 191 terrorists were killed, 184 were apprehended, and two high-profile Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists were captured in Niger State. Furthermore, troops conducted operations in the FCT, resulting in the arrest of 51 suspects and the impounding of three vehicles for various offenses. These suspects have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action. Additionally, 91 kidnap victims were rescued, and 104 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and their families surrendered to troops across various theaters of operation.
