Mohbad was always panicking – Talent Manager Paulo confirms

Popular event promoter and talent manager Paul Okoye, also known as Paulo, has confirmed that Mohbad consistently lived in fear before his unfortunate passing.

During a live stream conversation with media personality Daddy Freeze, Paulo emphasized that the late singer was perpetually anxious. He went on to share an anecdote about a time when he and Mohbad were together in London, and the singer expressed concerns about a potential threat.

Paulo recounted, “He was always on edge. Even when he came to London, and we were staying in a hotel—I can’t recall the hotel’s name—he began telling me about a looming threat against him. I didn’t realize it was this serious.”

The talent manager admitted that he initially thought Mohbad was being overly paranoid for seeking security, as he believed London to be a safe place. However, after reassuring Mohbad of his safety and providing him with additional security, he realized the singer’s fears were more significant than he had realized.

Paulo added, “When he told me he needed security, I asked if he was under the influence of drugs, wondering what security would accomplish. He then showed me something, and we had a conversation. I assured him, ‘As long as you’re here, you are protected, you’re safe. No one will harm you; no one will touch you. I know there might be some rough areas, but no one will harm you here. London is not that dangerous.’ I also spoke with his manager and arranged for security guards, as we do for Wande Coal and other artists.”

Paulo pointed out that Mohbad appeared to be consistently on edge and withdrawn due to his persistent fears. He admitted that he had not been aware of the extent of Mohbad’s anxieties.

Tragically, Paulo is not the only individual to attest to the fact that the late singer was always fearful. Mohbad’s widow, Omowanmi, also mentioned this when she mourned him the day after his passing. She revealed that he had been struggling and living with constant fear, even after the birth of their child.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, causing profound grief in the entertainment industry. His death led to anger following reports of ongoing harassment by his former record label, led by Naira Marley. Although Naira Marley and Sammy Larry, his counterpart, denied any involvement in Mohbad’s passing, the public demanded a thorough investigation.

Responding to public demands, the Nigerian police force initiated an official investigation into Mohbad’s death. An appeal was also made to the chief coroner of Lagos state to conduct an autopsy in the case.
