“Ikeja Electric announces the resumption of meter deployment by distribution companies (Discos).”

  • Post category:Business

Ikeja Electric has announced the resumption of prepaid meter distribution through the Meter Assets Provider (MAP) program, as revealed during a virtual stakeholders’ forum by Morenikeji Amosun, Head of the Metering Team for Ikeja Electric.

Amosun disclosed that new meters have been imported under the MAP program, and their deployment will commence shortly. He further explained that existing customers who placed orders for meters at the previous prices will receive their meters without any additional charges. However, new meter orders will be subject to the updated meter prices established by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

This initiative aims to address the backlog of meter orders and enhance access to meters for electricity consumers.

Amosun stated, “We can assure you that MAPs have introduced new meters, and customers will begin receiving their meters in the upcoming week and beyond. However, the initial focus will be on those who placed orders about two or three months ago at the old prices. Customers who paid the old prices will not need to make any additional payments to receive their meters. But for new orders, the new prices will apply.”.
