“Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has issued a stern warning that any traditional ruler found supporting cultism within their domains, thereby jeopardizing the state’s peace, will face an indefinite suspension from office. Fubara delivered this warning during the inauguration of the Mgbuodohia Internal Roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Monday.
The governor emphasized the urgent need for unity and collaborative efforts to maintain the existing peace. Fubara stressed that his administration cannot be solely responsible for combating threats to the lives and property of residents in the state, especially when traditional rulers appear to be empowering youth involved in cult activities.
Fubara made it clear that he would not hesitate to apply the same disciplinary action taken against the suspended Eze Igbu Akoh II, His Royal Majesty, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi in Ahoada East Local Government Area, to any traditional ruler found culpable.
He urged everyone to come together and work towards preserving peace and respect for the state. He stated, ‘Any traditional ruler, whether from my own area or elsewhere, who supports cultism, which is becoming a problem in our state, can be assured that, just as I started with the traditional ruler in Ahoada East Local Government Area, I will take similar action.’
Regarding the internal road project, Fubara noted that it had been initiated during the election campaigns, with the previous Governor, Nyesom Wike, promising to complete it if he won the governorship election. Fubara fulfilled this promise, stating that his objective is to consolidate and complete the excellent projects initiated by his predecessor, ultimately improving the lives of the people and bringing smiles to their faces.
Describing the project, the Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Dakorinama George-Kelly, explained that the Mgbuodohia Internal Roads, with a total length of 5.2 kilometers and drainage systems, will enhance mobility for the community by connecting it to Rumuolumeni/Rumuepirikom Road and Nkpor Road.”
