World Athletics Championships: Amike predicts what will happen to Tobi Amusan

Henry Amike, a former Olympian, suggested on Tuesday that Tobi Amusan’s recent ordeal might serve as a catalyst for her triumph at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Amike encouraged Amusan to move past the suspension controversy initiated by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

The Disciplinary Tribunal’s panel concluded, by a majority decision, that Amusan had not violated any Anti-Doping Rule with regards to three Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period.

Amike noted that the suspension incident might motivate Amusan to surpass the performance achieved at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, U.S.

“Different athletes react differently to situations. Her recent ordeal could potentially motivate her to achieve a strong performance and break her own record.

“The impact of the recent drama is more on the psychological side rather than physical. Once she gains control of her mindset, acknowledging that she rightfully deserves to compete in Hungary, she will overcome it.

“Not all challenges yield negative outcomes. I hope she has the necessary support at this moment, as it would greatly contribute. Surrounding herself with supportive individuals who believe in her will be crucial,” he stated.
