Police Arrest Eight Suspected Killers Of Sokoto Butcher Accused Of Blasphemy

The Sokoto State Police Command has officially announced the apprehension of a minimum of eight individuals suspected of being involved in the murder of a butcher named Usman Buda. Usman Buda lost his life to a mob in June after being accused of blasphemy.

Revealing further details, the Police Public Relations Officer, Rufai Ahmad, made a statement on Thursday. Ahmad elaborated that the case concerning the butcher has been transferred from the jurisdiction of the Sokoto command to the Force Headquarters located in Abuja.

Ahmad stated, “Before the case was relocated to Abuja approximately two weeks ago, we arrested two suspects. Subsequently, the authorities in Abuja apprehended additional suspects. In total, about six to seven more suspects were detained by the Force Headquarters.”

The incident involving Usman Buda transpired when he was allegedly engaged in an argument that led to accusations of blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad. This unfortunate incident occurred on a Sunday morning in June at the Sokoto main abattoir.
