Nigerian singer Burna Boy, who has won a Grammy award, has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s suggestion of a military intervention in Niger Republic following a coup in the Sahelian nation.
President Tinubu recently reached out to the Senate, seeking their endorsement for a military intervention against the military junta in Niger Republic. However, the Senate rejected the request.
Burna Boy conveyed his response through his associate Manny during an Instagram live session. He advised President Tinubu to focus on addressing the fuel scarcity issue in Nigeria caused by the sudden removal of fuel subsidies.
In colloquial language, Burna Boy remarked, “What’s happening here? They say we’re going to war like this [laughs]. Fuel is not available, and you want to go to war. How do you plan to reach the battlefield? Will you use… What do they use for that generator? Gas generator. It’s surprising to me. Nigeria is always dealing with problems.”
Burna Boy’s statement was delivered in Pidgin English and highlighted his concern about addressing pressing domestic issues like fuel scarcity rather than considering military interventions.
