A Tiktoker has been sentenced to three years in jail for bullying Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus.

A Tiktoker, Nwakaego Okoye, was sentenced to three years in prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos for engaging in social media bullying of popular Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus. The verdict was delivered by Justice Nicholas Oweibo after Okoye pleaded guilty to the charges against her.

In addition to the prison term, the judge offered an alternative of N150,000 fine instead of serving the sentence.

During the arraignment, the police prosecutor, Nosa Uhumwangho, stated that Okoye and another individual named Chimabia (currently at large) conspired to commit the offense of cyberstalking between December 2022 and July 2023. The crime is in violation of Sections 27 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act 2015.

After the charges were read, and Okoye pleaded guilty, the prosecutor requested the court to review the facts of the case and urged for a conviction with an appropriate sentence. On the other hand, the convict’s counsel pleaded for leniency, highlighting that she was a first-time offender and cooperated during the court proceedings.

In the final ruling, Justice Oweibo sentenced Okoye to three years in prison for the two counts or a fine of N150,000.
