Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerian workers that the government is prepared to reevaluate their salaries to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal. He provided this assurance during a visit by Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, and members of the National Assembly from the state.
According to a statement from the Media Office of the Senate President on Wednesday, Akpabio also stated that the removal of fuel subsidy during President Bola Tinubu’s administration was aimed at addressing corruption in the petroleum sector, marking the beginning of the fight against corruption in the system.
Akpabio emphasized the necessity of removing fuel subsidy to ensure Nigeria’s survival in the coming years. He expressed his commitment to reviewing salaries and wages of workers to ensure that Nigerians receive a livable income.
Addressing the governor, Akpabio commended Ekiti State’s representatives in the 10th National Assembly, praising their dedication and commitment to legislative duties. He emphasized that the people of Ekiti, known as the ‘land of knowledge,’ have much to contribute to the progress of the Senate and the country as a whole. Akpabio assured Governor Oyebanji of the Senate’s willingness to collaborate with Ekiti State for the overall benefit of Nigerians.
