Imbah: Gboko kid sensation who idolizes Modric

Benue State, located in North-central Nigeria, has not seen the emergence of a world-class midfielder since Ogenyi Onazi left the Super Eagles. However, the incredibly talented 14-year-old Nderneh Imbah from Gboko appears poised to fill that void in the near future. He has been impressing observers with his outstanding performances in the middle of the park during tough and competitive matches in the domestic league.

Imbah currently plays for Empire FC in the Nationwide League One, which is the third-tier level of club football in Nigeria. His style of play is well-suited for the modern game, and he draws inspiration from Real Madrid’s midfield maestro, Luka Modric.

Throughout this season, the young and skillful midfielder has been a standout player for Empire FC. Coach Samun Templa has praised Imbah’s abilities, noting that he is one of the league’s top tacklers and possesses a remarkable ability to recover the ball even while contributing significantly to the team’s attacking efforts.

Comparisons have already been drawn between Imbah and Modric, and there is growing excitement about his potential. The coach believes that with good guidance and management, Imbah could become a vital asset for the team’s promotion to the second-tier division.

Imbah’s impressive performances include assisting in the winning goal during Empire FC’s 2-1 victory over NYSC, as well as starring in their wins against Flash FC from Zaria (2-1) and their draw with Tanko Baba from Lafia, Nasarawa State (1-1).

The youngster’s ambition is fueled by his brothers’ failed attempts to secure transfers to Europe. He is determined to break that jinx and make his family proud. While balancing education and sports hasn’t been easy, Imbah remains dedicated to both. As a Senior Secondary School 2 student at Divine Progressive College in Gboko, Benue State, he diligently attends school in the afternoons and trains with his team at 4 pm.

Imbah is focused on completing his secondary school education before fully pursuing a professional football career. His ultimate dream is to play for Nigeria and Real Madrid, but he knows that it will require dedication and hard work to reach those lofty heights.
