2026 World Cup Qualifier: Super Eagles to know group opponents on Thursday

  • Post category:Sports

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will find out their opponents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Thursday.

The draw will be held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and will see the 54 African teams divided into nine groups of six. The top team in each group will qualify for the World Cup, while the four best runners-up will go into a playoff round.

The Super Eagles are one of the top nine seeds for the draw, along with Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Mali, Cameroon, and Côte d’Ivoire. This means that they will avoid being drawn against any of these teams in the group stage.

Nigeria’s biggest rivals, Ghana, are among the second-seeded teams, so there is a chance that the two teams could be drawn together. However, there are also a number of other strong teams in the second seed, so it is not clear who Nigeria will be drawn against.
