AY Accepts No Reconciliation: “I am completely fine with the idea of not resolving my differences with Basketmouth before I pass away – AY on their beef.”

In a recent interview with Teju Babyface, Nigerian comedian AY opened up about his longstanding feud with fellow comic Basketmouth, acknowledging that he has finally accepted defeat in his attempts to reconcile with him.

AY revealed that the feud between them originated from a ₦30,000 gig and was exacerbated when he was turned away from Basketmouth’s wedding despite attending with his wife. Despite his dislike for animosity, AY made several efforts to mend the rift, but they all ended in failure. Even his senior colleagues in the comedy industry advised him to back off, reminding him that friendship cannot be forced.

Undeterred, AY persisted in his attempts to bridge the gap. During one of his stand-up comedy shows, he publicly tried to prove himself as a friend to Basketmouth, but it only led to more conflict. Basketmouth responded by stating that they were not friends at all, and this marked the breaking point for AY.

Now, AY has come to terms with the situation and is willing to carry the unresolved tension with him for the rest of his life, content with the idea of not having to interact with Basketmouth again.
