AAliko Dangote, the president of Dangote Group, has expressed that a flourishing local economy has the potential to alleviate the ongoing talent drain from Nigeria, commonly known as the ‘japa’ phenomenon (derived from the Yoruba term meaning “to run quickly”). Dangote emphasizes the importance of Nigeria’s deliberate efforts to generate more employment opportunities to engage its growing youth population. Speaking at an event hosted by Olaniwun Ajayi LP and BusinessDay in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Dangote stated, “A thriving economy will significantly diminish the concerning prevalence of the japa syndrome as individuals seek better opportunities elsewhere.”
