Samson Unuanel, a former coach of Kwara United, has urged the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to promptly address the ongoing bonus dispute within the Super Falcons team ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons, placed in Group B alongside co-hosts Australia, Canada, and Ireland, have found themselves embroiled in a contentious disagreement with the NFF. The team has accused the governing body of inadequately compensating players, as well as abruptly canceling a preparation camp just weeks before their departure to Australia and New Zealand. With their opening group stage match against Olympic champions Canada scheduled for July 21, reports indicate that the team may consider boycotting the match if the situation remains unresolved.

Expressing his thoughts on the matter, Unuanel emphasized the importance of the NFF swiftly resolving the bonus dispute to allow the players to focus on the tournament. He expressed discontent with the issue, stating that it has the potential to distract the players. Unuanel highlighted the need for the NFF to address this matter prior to the team’s departure from Nigeria, stating that it is crucial to have a well-organized team without distractions in order to achieve success in a significant tournament such as the Women’s World Cup.
