The gunmen expressed anger towards the traders and transporters for not complying with the sit-at-home order.

An eyewitness reported that the gunmen arrived and expressed their displeasure at the traders for defying the sit-at-home order. They proceeded to burn parts of the market and commercial vehicles. As they left, they shot indiscriminately and burned vehicles in the Obolo community. This incident has caused significant financial loss for poor businesswomen and low-income earners.

The spokesperson for the state police, Henry Okoye, assured that the police are taking appropriate measures to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He also urged stakeholders in Imo State to warn their constituents, as the police will deal decisively with any individuals or criminal syndicates involved in enforcing the unlawful sit-at-home order. The public is advised to continue with their lawful activities, remain vigilant, and promptly report any criminal activities related to the sit-at-home order.
