Amoo Eyes Return To Football Amid Assault Case

  • Post category:Sports

Akinkunmi Amoo, the forward for FC Copenhagen, has expressed his intention to return to training soon after recovering from a serious injury that kept him out of last season. Amoo suffered the injury during a training match in September of the previous year, which led to a 10-month absence from the team as he underwent surgery and rehabilitation.

Despite being in the spotlight due to a sexual assault case, Amoo provided an update on his injury recovery through a Twitter post. He met with Copenhagen’s medical team to assess his leg and determine a possible return date. The feedback from the medical team was positive, and Amoo expressed gratitude to his friends and family for their support during his recovery period.

The 20-year-old has faced allegations of sexual assault and recently appeared in a Copenhagen court to address the criminal charges. According to a court judgment shared on Twitter by journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Amoo received an unconditional one-year jail term after being found guilty of all three charges in the Copenhagen District Court. However, it has been reported that Amoo has appealed the verdict, and his brother, Sunday Amoo, has stated that he is currently not serving a jail term and remains in his home in Denmark. The case is ongoing in court, and efforts are being made to fight for justice, claiming the case to be a form of blackmail. Amoo, who previously represented Nigeria in the U-17 AFCON and the FIFA U-17 World Cup, joined FC Copenhagen from FC Hammarby in January 2022. He won his first league title with the Danish club last year but was limited to only two appearances before his injury ended his season. If his appeal is successful, he will be eager to return to full action for the team that paid €4.4m to secure his signature.
