  • Post category:Insecurity

Suspected terrorists fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the town of Damboa in Borno State, killing at least five people and injuring 11 others.

The attack took place on Friday night, June 30, when scores of fighters attempted to invade the town. They were met with stiff resistance from a paramilitary outfit that works alongside the armed forces. In desperation, the insurgents fired the RPG from a distance, which struck the town and killed five people. Eleven others were injured in the attack.

The five dead victims were buried on Saturday, July 1, while the injured were flown to the regional capital Maiduguri for medical attention.

The attack is the latest in a series of violence in Borno State, which has been at the heart of the Boko Haram insurgency for years. The group has been responsible for the deaths of thousands of people and the displacement of millions more. The Nigerian government has repeatedly vowed to defeat Boko Haram, but the group has shown no signs of slowing down. The latest attack is a reminder of the ongoing threat that the insurgency poses to the country.
